For decades, the Tombrella family has played an integral part of the Woodlawn community. Since their arrival in the 80s, their businesses along First Avenue North have become familiar landmarks, including the Imperial Dry Cleaners, chiropractic clinic, laundromat, and even a charming bridal boutique, Imperial Formal Wear. Lights, Camera, Action! The rebirth of the Woodlawn Theater is happening this weekend in the heart of Woodlawn. The theater is opening its doors to the public with two extraordinary opening events that are FREE to the public. The 1400 square foot venue has a wide range of amenities and even has a full-service bar. The Magic City Mural Festival returned to Woodlawn with five female muralists from across the country from November 5, 2022 to November 12, 2022. In Woodlawn, a community partnership of Woodlawn Business Association, neighborhood groups and nonprofits REV Birmingham and Woodlawn United are actively applying Main Street’s Four Point Approach with strategies focused around Equitable Entrepreneurship in Woodlawn’s historic business district. From community improvement projects to Woodlawn Street Market, this group of partners is constantly looking for ways to support local entrepreneurs into realizing their dreams and adding to Woodlawn’s vibrancy.
